West Seattle Real Estate

West Seattle Real Estate Guide

Aptly named for being situated on the westernmost land in Seattle, West Seattle offers splendid views of the Olympic Mountains to the west across from the Puget Sound and the Cascade Range to the east. The neighborhood was the original landing point for settlers in Seattle and is the sum of micro-neighborhoods including Admiral, Fauntleroy and Delridge. The common thread? West Seattleites march to the beat of their own drum, and don’t mind being connected to Seattle by bridge, spending a lot of their time on the peninsula.

What to Expect

A lot of Seattleites will call West Seattle “The Island” – even before the troubles with the bridge connecting it to SoDo started. Residents of West Seattle however will staunchly say that so long as you avoid the rush hour, its the perfect place to be. West Seattle can be viewed as a small city onto itself with big city conveniences. Residents enjoy easy access to convenience stores like Metropolitan Market, a plethora of stores on California Ave, a bunch of Elementary schoolsMadison and Denny International Middle Schools and West Seattle High School. A strong public transportation system makes getting around easy, and people tend to abide to a beach town vibe – frequently dressed down and very friendly. Recent developments and a burgeoning brewery scene leave locals comparing it to an up and coming Ballard – with that beach town twist that makes it so special.

The Lifestyle

It’s hard to think of a more iconic way to spend a summer’s evening in Seattle than attending a bonfire on Alki Beach. Get dinner before at La Rustica or Pegasus Pizza and you’re pratically already a local. Once you are fed, grab a rental bike and ride along the waters edge. Be sure to check out the sunset at Hamilton Viewpoint Park for a spectacular cityscape view.

Unexpected Appeal

Alaska Junction! The corner of California Avenue and Alaska Street is the defacto downtown of West Seattle. You can shop, eat and explore the day away. Pro tip – check out Bakery Nouveau – get a twice baked croissant!

You'll Fall In Love With

The atmosphere. West Seattle really clicks with people who understand conformity isn’t all its hyped up to be. Sometimes the reward is being ahead of the trend, and being off the beaten path is more fun! Ohh and the beach at Alki!
