About Cap Hill

The neighborhood was originally settled in the late 1800s and early 1900s, when it was known as “Broadway Hill.” It was named after the main thoroughfare that runs through the neighborhood, Broadway Avenue. Many of the homes and buildings in the area were built during this time, and feature a mix of architectural styles, including Victorian, Craftsman, and Art Deco.

Capitol Hill became an even more popular destination during the 1920s and 1930s, when it became a hub for Seattle’s arts and culture scene. The neighborhood is home to several historic theaters, including the Egyptian Theater and the Harvard Exit, as well as the Seattle Asian Art Museum.

Today, Capitol Hill is a popular neighborhood for young professionals, artists, and students. It is home to a variety of restaurants, bars, and shops, and has a lively nightlife scene. The neighborhood is also known for its LGBTQ+ community, with several businesses and organizations catering to this population.

In terms of real estate, Capitol Hill has become one of the most desirable neighborhoods in Seattle. It features a mix of housing options, including historic single-family homes, apartments, and condos. Due to its popularity, real estate prices in the neighborhood have risen steadily over the years, making it one of the most expensive areas to live in Seattle. However, it remains a sought-after location for those who value its vibrant community and convenient location.
