Sat between Seattle and Bellevue on the shore of Lake Washington, Medina is an exclusive and beautiful community that was incorporated in 1955. A highly affluent town, some of the world’s richest individuals call it home and it’s not hard to understand why it is such a desirable place to live. Residents have access to some of the best waterfront lots in the Puget Sound and a wealth of amenities provided by the city.
Medina started as a farming community after the land was cleared for timber in the 1870’s. The areas first mansions were built by wealthy Seattleites in the 1920’s encouraged by a new ferry service connecting the land to Seattle. It’s natural beauty on the lake has lead to it being called Washington’s Gold Coast.

What to Expect
Medina has long been home to some of the Puget Sound’s wealthiest individuals – attracted to the extremely convenient location and natural beauty of the town. In 2009, with the support of most of the Towns residents, Medina installed cameras at all intersections that lead into the community. This approach was motivated by the nearby success in the town of Hunt’s Point that had not recorded a single break in for three years after it was installed. This system provides the residents of Medina with peace of mind as all license plates are read and police is notified if a plate in the system enters the city.
The Lifestyle
A quick trip across State Highway 520 to Seattle and near to downtown Bellevue and Microsoft’s Redmond HQ, it is apparent how centrally located Medina is to most things in the Greater Seattle area. All the shops and restaurants of Bellevue are a short drive away and it’s a quick trip to Seattle Tacoma International Airport.
On top of this locational convenience, Medina also offers its residents fantastic public schools as well as St Thomas School.
The Unexpected Appeal
Medina is a very green community, and has always been a leader in urban tree codes. First enacted in 1972, and modified every couple of years since, the City has codified the value of trees to community and has been designated a Tree City by Arbor Day Foundation since 2006. The net result is that as any tree removal need to be mitigated, the community is vibrant with color.
You'll Fall in Love With
Honestly everything. Most residents of the Puget Sound have aspirations of living in this fantastic community and are envious of the lucky few that call it home.
